Have you heard of the latest museum in Saudi Arabia? The new Black Gold Museum is officially open at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Riyadh. This is actually the first of its kind, bringing together art and history to tell the story of oil in a way you’ve probably never seen before.
Inside, you’ll find more than 350 artworks that explore how oil shaped the world from its origins deep underground to its massive impact on everyday life.
The experience is divided into four immersive sections:
Encounter – where it all begins, introducing oil and its discovery
Dreams – showing the possibilities and ambitions it created
Doubts – exploring the challenges and complex impacts
Visions – looking ahead to the future and what’s next
Along the way, you’ll also come across historical documents that give deeper insight into the journey of oil and how it influenced economies, cities, and lifestyles around the world.
The space itself is designed to be interactive and engaging, so you’re not just walking through exhibits; you’re also experiencing a full story through visuals, art, and storytelling.
Monday to Thursday: 10 AM – 10 PM
Friday & Saturday: 4 PM – 10 PM
Sunday: Closed
Entry is free, but you do need to register in advance to secure your spot.
If you’re into art and history, the Black Gold Museum in Riyadh is one experience you don’t want to miss.
