It’s official! Riyadh Metro, one of the most anticipated projects in Saudi Arabia, is finally here. After nearly a decade of planning and construction since 2014, the metro opened its doors on December 1, offering a game-changing solution to the city’s traffic congestion. With its sleek design and state-of-the-art facilities, it’s set to reduce traffic by 30% and serve as a significant step toward modern, sustainable transportation in Riyadh.

The Riyadh metro network comprises six lines and 84 stations, designed to accommodate 1.2 million passengers daily. For now, three lines are operational, with two more set to open on December 15, and the final line launching on January 5, 2025. Operating hours are from 6 a.m. to midnight, ensuring that commuters have plenty of time to get where they need to be.

Purchasing tickets is easy and accessible. You can use the Darb app, available in English and Arabic, to plan your journey and buy tickets. Alternatively, ticket machines are conveniently located at every metro station.
