14 Expats Share Their Favorite Thing About Riyadh

One of the most impressive expat hubs in the world, Riyadh is home to millions who have moved here for job opportunities and unmatched projects. Still, the city manages to make quite an impression on expats who grow to love it as a second home. We spoke to fourteen expats who have lived in Riyadh (and some around KSA) for a few years now to find out what they love the most about this magical city!

Please note that submissions have been edited for clarity.

1. “The meeting of old and new! Riyadh strikes the perfect balance between tradition and dazzling new spots, and the excitement of seeing those two worlds meet is heartwarming.”

2. “Kabsa and broast are simply heaven.”

3. “The locals are super friendly!”

4. “The amount of kid-friendly places. As parents of young children we have always prioritized outings to parks and playgrounds and it is safe to say that Riyadh does not disappoint in that regard. Most restaurants, hotels, and venues are also extremely welcoming to families with children!”

6. “Vacation days in Saudi are what make my colleagues and friends back home ultra jealous so I have come to appreciate them the most.”

7. “Shopping in Riyadh is another experience. Massive shops and stores have virtually everything under the sun.”

8. “It is one of the safest places in the world for our family.”

9. “The quality of life and how I can get any food I am craving all in one city.”

10. “You meet so many different people in Riyadh and all from different parts of the world.”

11. “I loved learning Arabic.”

12. “Some gyms here are open 24/7 which is insane to my friends back home and is hands down my favorite thing.”

13. “Economic opportunities that I could have never dreamed of.”

14. “I’ve enjoyed getting to visit the natural spaces that are all around.”
