We honestly didn’t expect this when we walked in. From the outside, Fireej Al Swaileh looks like a boat-inspired restaurant, but once you step inside, it turns into something completely unexpected! There’s a real aquarium built into the dining area with live fish swimming right next to your table at this Riyadh restaurant.
You walk in expecting a normal Kuwaiti restaurant… and suddenly you’re surrounded by water tanks and fish swimming beside your seating area. It is not something you see every day in Riyadh!
The restaurant is huge, spanning three floors, so it never really feels cramped even when it’s busy.
Each floor has its own feel:
If you’re aiming for the aquarium side, you might have to wait a bit.
The menu is all about simple, traditional Kuwaiti dishes. Nothing complicated, just proper comfort food. You’ll find dishes like jareesh, aseeda, markook, kaboot, liver masala, meat masala, green peas masala, and fava swaileh.
At the end of your meal, they serve complimentary luqaimat, along with Kuwaiti tea and coffee. It’s a nice finishing touch that makes the whole experience feel more generous and complete.
Parking is easy, with basement parking available, and the space is large enough that even on busy days it doesn’t feel chaotic. So if you want something a bit unusual, a real aquarium inside a restaurant plus solid Kuwaiti food without leaving Riyadh, Fireej Al Swaileh is one!
